I know for most of you, November seems like a lifetime away. Here we are, in the midst of the hottest summer any of us have every experienced (or so I assume), and it feels like we will never hit fall, much less winter. But we dream of November almost daily and think of it fondly.
For writers like moi, there is another reason to look forward to November. And that is National Novel Writing Month!
This year I’ll be focusing on a sequel to my book that’s about to be published, Into the Flames. Unfortunately, I have a slight dilemma. So far I have plans for two sequels. One occurs directly after the events in Into the Flames, and the other occurs twenty years later. I would much rather work on the latter, but I think it is probably a better idea to write them in chronological order. Thoughts?
I cursed out loud when I saw this post’s title in my RSS reader.
But…yes. I’m looking forward to it, too. Being a writer is weird.
WOOHOO!!!!! Also, I am terribly excited about October, because that’s when I’ll do my pre-writing package for my NaNo novel! SO excited!
Being a writer is definitely weird. Also, you can write your sequels in whatever order pleases you, then publish them in whatever order suits your fancy. : )
Yeah, Mara and I decided that I could do them in whatever order I wanted. Especially if we don’t number them like a series.
Lack of numberedness should work especially well for non-chronological order. : )
I’ve been having the same thoughts lately, Jessie. It’s just around the corner and I CAN’T WAIT! I am so stoked for this year.
I have a bit of the same dilemma you do. I’d planned on writing the third book in the Flawed series, but now that I have a new story that feels more exciting, I’m wondering if I should write that one.
So I don’t know that I can offer you much help. But I’m with you on those tough decisions and I can’t wait for November!
[…] Jessie pointed out last week, The NaNoWriMo Approacheth! I’ve known since the beginning of the year which story idea I’d be working on this […]
Is it a September Friday yet? Where are the flames? I shall be checking back here all day.
