We are officially halfway through November, and that means, naturally, we’re halfway through NaNoWriMo.
Things are continuing to go well for me. I’m 2k words ahead and plan to keep it that way. I had little bit of a struggle over the weekend to get in my wordcount, mostly because I was at my parents’ house but also becuase I didn’t really care for the scene I was writing on. I made up for it on Monday though, and I’ve been doing all right since then.
Not to mention I also managed to finish reading Shannon Hale’s Enna Burning. It’s a sequel to the Goose Girl, and if you enjoy fantasy or fairy tales I recommend both books. Maybe if I hit my writing goal for today I’ll also start Neil Gaiman’s Stardust, which I’ve been meaning to read for at least a year.
Oh, so you want to hear more about my nano novel, you say? Well, I don’t want to give too much away. Yesterday I spent most of my day writing an unintended scene between Amanda and Rahab. It felt necessary, though, because it details a little more what happened with John Madison after the events of Into the Flames. I wanted a completely new “villian” for the sequel, but it felt wrong to forget about John’s existence, because in real life that doesn’t happen. Maybe bad people come and go in your life, but they still have an effect on the rest of the world. And John Madison definitely has an effect on the world, even if it’s not Rahab’s world anymore.
I’ve also got some classic teenage angst going on, most of which I’m hoping to mop up later, because it is getting pretty weepy in here. But hey, I’m not going to deny it its place in my first draft if it adds to my word count.
NaNoWriMo, I will conquer you yet!
